What We Do Not Fund
The Orfalea Foundations decline a large number of otherwise worthy proposals that do not meet our set objectives.
- We rarely fund endowments, one-time events, or capital campaigns
- We do not fund requests from individuals, political, social or fraternal organizations.
- We do not provide loans, micro-financing, start-up expenses, seed capital funding or scholarships for individuals, except through scholarship programs.
- We do not accept unsolicited grant applications or proposals before a Letter of Inquiry has been approved.
- We do not fund programs in furtherance of sectarian religious activities, impermissible lobbying, legislative or political movements.
- We do not fund programs for medical research or profit-making enterprises.
- We do not fund institutions that discriminate on the basis of race, creed, gender, national origin, age, disability or sexual orientation in policy or practice.
- We do not support the funding of indirect expenses.
